Robyn – Lewis Capaldi – Belle & Sebastian – Passenger – Girl In Red – Princess Nokia – Joan as Police Woman – Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever – JC Stewart – Rhys Lewis
Also just announced are three tough bands joining the Thursday line up!
Soon organisers will be ready to release the headliner for Thursday 11th June, in the meantime they are warming up with three tough bands for this festival day, which already features artists like THE SPECIALS, SUPERGRASS and OLE PAUS & MOTORPSYCHO.
“The ties that bind us to life are tougher than you imagine,” wrote Brontë’s sister Anne. The duo Michael Trent and Cary Ann Hearst, better known by the name of SHOVELS & ROPE, embody this bond. Their pact is a band of blood. They are spouses, lovers, parents, bandmates and creative partners. SHOVELS & ROPE has found its own niche in the crossroads between indigenous people and Americans with inspiration from greats like Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash. With its latest creative creation, the tough and elegant album By Blood, SHOVELS & ROPE is ready for its biggest year to date.
Although the Grammy-nominated folk pop duo THE MILK CARTON KIDS does not approach album writing conceptually, a pervasive theme for their latest album suddenly emerged. Dramatic events in the band members’ lives form the sore background for the record dealing with shattered or fragmented reality, but the project is larger than their personal grief. Dual vocal harmonies and acoustic guitars form a haunting landscape: this is the floating American a la Simon & Garfunkel looking for a lost or vanished America.
When you see the Dublin quintet THE MURDER CAPITAL on a stage for the first time, you may be surprised that it is not only hardness, sadness and anger that meet you, but also a lot of tenderness. They are the sore bruise on the resuscitated postpunk’s hard knee. A close friend’s tragic suicide is the theme of their debut album: Every single song on the album is one way or another about a friend’s passing. However, in its boyish innocence and vulnerability, it is also an album about maturation and growth.
