Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds to headline TW Classic 2022

One of the most intense and exciting live acts on the planet, NICK CAVE AND THE BAD SEEDS will headline festivals across Europe in summer 2022, in their first shows in 4 years.

On Saturday 25 June 2022, NICK CAVE AND THE BAD SEEDS headline TW Classic in Werchter. Other acts confirmed for the one-day festival are PLACEBO, SLEAFORD MODS and WHISPERING SONS.

Formed following the break up of The Birthday Party in 1982, to date the band have released seventeen studio albums, starting with From Her To Eternity in 1984, to the Bad Seeds’ latest album ‘Ghosteen’, which has been widely received as their best work ever. One of the most critically acclaimed acts working today, NICK CAVE AND THE BAD SEEDS have sold over 5 million albums worldwide to date. Their influence has been profound and far-reaching with many artists covering their work and citing their influence, Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds continue to remain peerless and defy expectations. A concert by Nick Cave and his mighty Bad Seeds is an experience that should be on everyone’s bucket list. One minute he’s a high priest dancing with the devil, the next he’s a teen idol in a tailored suit with the audience eating out of his hand. Their musical high points are many. Cave has been coming to Werchter since 1989.

PLACEBO are also no strangers to the Festivalpark in Werchter. They have been regulars since their Rock Werchter debut in 1997. The group stands for everything that rock can and should be for over a quarter of a century. The duo of Stefan Olsdal, from Sweden, and Brian Molko, a Scottish American, is fiery, funny and dangerous. ‘Every You Every Me’, ‘Special K’, ‘Pure Morning’, ‘The Bitter End’ and ‘Too Many Friends’ are just some of their big hits. Placebo and Werchter: it’s a winning combination.

A microphone, a laptop and two lovable rogues kicking over sacred cows. With this basic setup, SLEAFORD MODS have evolved into an impressive phenomenon. Andrew Fearn provides the beats and loops against which Jason Williamson lets loose in his unrefined Nottingham accent. The fifty-somethings label their fierce attack electronic minimalist punkhop for the working class. Imagine clubbing with the Sex Pistols and The Prodigy!

WHISPERING SONS’ USP is the deep voice of singer Fenne Kuppens which intensifies their ominous sound even further. For older fans, the five Brussels-based Limburgers offer an update to the heritage of The Cure, Joy Division and Sisters Of Mercy. Younger fans hear something exciting that they can’t quite place, though it fits in well with foreign contemporaries like Iceage, Fontaines D.C. and Savages. WHISPERING SONS open TW Classic 2022!
