Twenty One Pilots, Them Yorke, The Chemical Brothers & more confirmed for Open’er Festival 2021!

The first artists for Open’er Festival 2021 have been confirmed!

TWENTY ONE PILOTS will be the festival headliner on Thursday and next year’s edition will also include THOM YORKE TOMOROW’S MODERN BOXES – an icon of the alternative, THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS – giants of electronic music, FKA TWIGS – one of the most important female voices of recent years, and the legend of rock and blues – SEASICK STEVE.

Thanks to billions of views and plays of such songs as “Stressed Out”, “Heathens” or “Ride”, a huge bag of awards (including Grammy statuettes, MTV EMA and Billboard Awards) and one of the most faithful fanbases in the world, TWENTY ONE PILOTS are among the most important alternative bands of recent years. The icing on the cake is undoubtedly the fact that the album “Blurryface” has been officially hailed as the best-selling rock album of the decade (Billboard). In the works of Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun, rock, electronics, hip-hop and synthesizer-driven alternative pop combine in a rare symbiosis. However, the musical climate they created only emphasizes the sensitive themes of anxiety and mental health that have repeatedly appeared in their songs. The duo has 5 albums. The last, “Trench”, appeared last year, debuting in second place on the Billboard 200 ranking and scoring as much as 81/100 on Metacritic. The new “Level of Concern” released in April climbed to the top of Billboard. As they announced, they are working on a new album that will be released “faster than we expect”.

For three decades, his work took many forms, covering a wide spectrum of genres. Today, regardless of whether we are Radiohead fans or look forward to his side and solo projects, his status is indisputable – THOM YORKE is the legend of modern alternative. We are pleased to announce that in July he will come to Gdynia, together with Nigel Godrich, his longtime producer and collaborator, and Tarik Barrim – a visual artist. Together they will play a cross-section of his solo work.

In 2019, the latest, highly rated album of THOM YORKE “Anim” was released, which was created with Godrich. The release, accompanied by the movie directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, is York’s first solo album, which topped the Billboard Dance / Electronic Albums list and the second in the top ten best albums on the Islands. THOM YORKE TOMORROW’S MODERN BOXES will perform at Open’er 2021.

The British artist is one of the most original representatives of alternative pop this decade. Tahliah Debrett Barnett, known as FKA TWIGS, debuted in the years 2012-2013 with the releases “EP1” and “EP2”, and her debut album “LP1” was released in 2014. Since then, she has remained an extremely colorful artist, combining avant-pop elements with electronics and soul. Her additional skills certainly helped in building her position – from the beginning of her career FKA TWIGS also developed as a dancer, model and director (she is responsible for most of her clips), which in the eyes of many fans elevated her to the status of an icon of pop culture. The “Magdalene” album released this year has received great reviews, and Pitchfork gave it the title of Best New Album. “‘Magdalene’ is more than avant-garde pop. It’s a breathtaking class,” the album wrote about the site.

This year is 25 years since their debut “Exit Planet Dust”. While many artists would have suffered from burnout syndrome after so many years, Ed Simmons and Tom Rowlands confirm their size with each new album. Released in 2015, “Born In The Echoes” was the sixth release of THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS in a row, which landed at the top of the best-selling CDs in the Islands and made their electronic project with the largest number of albums first in the history of quotations in the UK. Last year, their 9th album “No Geography” was undoubtedly one of the most important in electronic music, which was confirmed by Grammy Awards in the categories Best Dance / Electronic Album and Best Dance Recording for the song “Got to Keep On”. However, DJ Mag recognized the duo as the best Live Act 2019 of the year. Their spectacular show will close Orange Main Stage on the last day of the festival.

“In my world, we go out on stage and give our best every evening. Since people have spent money to see how we rock, we have a duty to provide it to them” – this SEASICK STEVE quote says everything about his raw, blues-rock energy . Although the long, gray beard of American music could suggest otherwise, the artist has been present on the music scene for only a dozen or so years. During this time, he managed to release 9 albums, and announced a new record, „Love & Peace”, for July.
