Florence Rocks continues to surprise by unveiling the names of international superstars who will be on stage at the Visarno Arena in Florence next June.
After the TOOL (June 13th), ED SHEERAN (June 14th) and THE CURE (June 16th), announcements, this is the turn of THE SMASHING PUMPKINS, which will perform on the first day of the festival or Thursday, June 13th.
Winners of the GRAMMY® Award, acclaimed alternative-rock pioneers, THE SMASHING PUMPKINS have just released their new album SHINY AND OH SO BRIGHT, VOL. 1 / LP: NO PAST. NO FUTURE. NO SUN.
Q Magazine praised the project by reviewing it with 4 stars, calling it “glorious and gloomy” and talking about the song “Silvery Sometimes (Ghosts)” as “one of the most powerful songs of their career”. The magazine adds, playing on the title of the project, that “the band, despite saying it has neither a past nor a future, has perfectly fallen on the present”.
The record, recorded at Sangri La Studios in Malibu (California) with producer Rick Rubin and guitarist Jeff Schroeder, is the band’s first work in over 18 years that brings together founding members Billy Corgan, James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin.
Formed in Chicago in 1988, The Smashing Pumpkins released their debut album Gish in 1991 and achieved worldwide success in 1993 with the 4 times multi-platinum album Siamese Dream and in 1995 with the 10 times multi-platinum album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.
