SIMPLY RED’S accolades and achievements are quite simply incredible. They have more than a billion hits on You Tube, have sold more than 60 million albums worldwide – with no fewer than five going to number one in the UK, their 1991 classic Stars was the best-selling album for two years running in Britain and Europe, and they have had two US Billboard chart toppers with classic singles Holding Back The Years and If You Don’t Know Me By Now.
Expect hit after hit as Hucknall and his bandmates rock Lytham Festival on Wednesday 6th July, and to make the night even more special they will be joined by special guest LISA STANSFIELD while Lytham Festival favourite and vocal powerhouse MARISHA WALLACE will open the show.
Thursday July 7th will see ELBOW headline. For more than three decades the lifelong friends that are the members of ELBOW have created one of the most remarkable stories in British contemporary music. Formed in Bury in the 1990s when all the members were together at sixth form college, ELBOW’s history now encompasses nine studio albums – with their most recent album Flying Dream 1 only just released – a long list of awards and a place in the roll call of great British bands. They will be supported by singer-songwriter RICHARD HAWLEY.
As was previously announced US rock legends THE STROKES and global favourites TEARS FOR FEARS will headline two of the extra five nights announced for Lancashire’s Lytham Festival 2022. It was also revealed earlier this month that the North West’s biggest live music festival is about to get even bigger next year after plans were approved to extend the usual five-day event to 10.
One of the most influential bands of the 21st century, THE STROKES Lytham Festival performance on Friday July 8th will be an exclusive North of England show. From the moment they released their critically acclaimed debut album Is This It in 2001 The Strokes were destined for huge international success and have gone on to earn a string of awards including a Grammy earlier this year for their most recent album The New Abnormal. And to make this one huge rock night to remember, THE STROKES will be supported by Irish post punk band FONTAINES DC.
Lytham Festival 2022 is going to be huge and we can’t wait. We already had five first class headliners lined up and now we have added to that bill with one of the most formidable rock bands of our time The Strokes and pop-rock favourites Tears For Fears. With three more headliners still to announce we have a very big event in the making for 2022 and look forward to welcoming around 200,000 people to enjoy live music once again on our wonderful Lytham Green. Moving to 10 nights means we can bring 10 world-class headliners to our festival so keep your eyes peeled and make sure you don’t miss out on what is going to be a very memorable event.
