With the announcement of POST MALONE, THE STROKES, MEGAN THEE STALLION and ROBERT PLANT & ALISON KRAUSS and a total of 134 names in the lineup, 2022 will be the year when Roskilde Festival can finally return with an extensive international music programme and a wealth of new musical trends from all over the globe.
Today’s announcement of 92 new music acts is not only the most comprehensive release in the festival’s history.
With POST MALONE on the Orange Stage, one of the Roskilde audience’s biggest wishes comes true. The 26-year-old American possesses a punk energy, and with huge pop hits like “Rockstar”, “Sunflower”, “Better Now” and “I Fall Apart” he appeals across generations.
Rap phenomenon MEGAN THEE STALLION is also one of the new headliners. She has been named one of the most influential people in the world by Time Magazine, and since she made a hit with the debut album Good News she has appeared side by side with names like Maroon 5, Lil Nas X and BTS.
THE STROKES have not been in Denmark since they played on the Orange Stage in 2011, but this summer they can finally present the songs off their 2020 album The New Abnormal supplemented with generous picks from the back catalogue.
The godfather of hard rock and the angel voice of bluegrass, ROBERT PLANT and ALISON KRAUSS, have previously played Roskilde Festival as solo acts – now they return as a duo. With the release of the album Raise the Roof, the two legends have resumed their collaboration since the Grammy-winning couple amazed and thrilled the music world with the hugely successful Raising Sand in 2007.
The concert with THE SMILE is not only a Danish premiere. The show will also be a reunion with Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood from Radiohead, who are the main forces behind the new band. Yorke and Greenwood have especially explored soundtracks and electronic music in their respective solo careers, but this time together they focus on a vital rock expression.
It is fantastic to finally be able to announce a music programme that shows that Roskilde Festival can return with an international and forward-thinking lineup. Post Malone and Megan Thee Stallion are both dream bookings for us. They belong to a new and young generation of genre-breaking headliners who can bring together a huge audience across generations and musical tastes. Together with The Strokes, Dua Lipa, Tyler, The Creator and the other headliners, they will make sure that our festival-goers can finally meet in front of the Orange Stage for a historic celebration of festival number 50.

Corona put an end to travels and cultural encounters between the continents. But in 2022, 31 countries and a wealth of global styles and genre crosses are represented at Roskilde Festival.
From Cuban funk star CIMAFUNK and Pakistani neoclassical siren AROOJ AFTAB to Brazilian star guitarist KIKO DINUCCI and Malian singer FATOUMATA DIAWARA who presents an enchanting mix of pop and blues.
From STAR FEMININE BAND consisting of girls from Benin aged 10 to 17, who sing about topics such as female genital mutilation, equality and female empowerment in six different languages, to NAKIBEMBE XYLOPHONE TROUPE from Uganda, who brings a giant Ugandan wooden xylophone which is played by as many as eight people.
We have done everything we can to bring many trends and tendencies from around the globe into this year’s lineup. We need, so to speak, to bring the world back together after the pandemic, and music plays a crucial role in this matter. The global perspective is also about mirroring the cultural and political agendas on subjects like anti-racism, LGBTQ+ rights and freedom of speech, which many artists take with them from all over the world and send from the stage to the audience.
