NILE RODGERS & CHIC, GOO GOO DOLLS, TENACIOUS D and H.E.R. are confirmed on Stage World and WHITESNAKE is headliner of the Sunset Stage.
The Rock in Rio organization has just announced four more World Stage attractions, all artists performing as the third night, opening for the day’s co-headliners, and a headliner on the Sunset Stage for the 2019 edition of the festival.
The legendary NILE RODGERS & CHIC will return to the festival to play their most successful songs on October 3, 2019. GOO GOO DOLLS will be at the biggest music and entertainment festival in the world for the first time. With a career spanning over 30 years, the band will present their top hits on September 29th. American hard rock group TENACIOUS D, made up of musicians and actors Jack Black and Kyle Gass, will be at Rock in Rio on September 28. It will be the first performance of the band in South America. H.E.R., who has just won two Grammys this year in two distinct categories (Best Album and Best Performance) makes their debut in Brazil, on Stage World, on October 5th.
The Sunset Stage will feature the legendary WHITESNAKE. The Brits return to the festival after their epic performance at the first edition of the event in 1985. The band will raise the public, with its melodies and unmistakable hits, in the remarkable voice of their legendary vocalist David Coverdale, on September 28.
Two years after the memorable concert, ending the first Sunday at Sunset Stage in 2017, the iconic NILE RODGERS & CHIC will be back at Rock in Rio. Critically acclaimed, the band presented an incredible repertoire full of hits – from pop to classic disco music, enchanting audiences of all ages. Classics such as “Everybody Dance” and “Dance, Dance, Dance” as well as “Like a Virgin” by Madonna and “Get Lucky” by Daft Punk have made the show unforgettable. The annual performance on Palco Mundo will be a great opportunity for fans to watch and listen to hits that have made history.
The band GOO GOO DOLLS, which will be in Rock in Rio for the first time, recently toured to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their main album, “Dizzy up the girl”. Brazilian fans will have the chance to sing “Black Balloon”, “Slide” and the romantic “Iris”, as well as the songs from their last studio album “Boxes”, released in 2016, which includes the hits “So Alive “And” Over and Over. “
It will be in Rock in Rio the first presentation of the band TENACIOUS D in South America. Formed by the musicians and actors Jack Black and Kyle Gass, the set have four studio albums marked by a bold style and by letters full of a satirical point of view on various topics. John Spiker, John Konesky and Scott Seiver make up the group that will present their hard rock and hilarious lyrics to make Rock City sing along.
For the first time in Brazil, the young talent of R & B, H.E.R., will be one of the attractions in the PalcoWorld. AftergatheringGrammysem2019, a 21-year-old Californian singer who draws the attention of fans worldwide and international critics comes to Rock in Rio. It will be a unique opportunity for the artist, who will know the power of the Brazilian audience, and also for her fans, who will attend a performance that reinforces their mysterious musicality and vocal power.
Formed in 1978, WHITESNAKE released albums that reached the Top 10 of the UK charts in the 1980s. They have been nominated for the Brit Award-nominated Best British Group. The hits “Here I Go Again” and “Is This Love” conquered American soil, and the album “Slip of the Tongue” in 1989 sold more than a million copies in the United States. Along with their great classics that obviously can not miss, the band will present their new work, such as the song “Shut Up and Kiss Me”, first single from their new album that brings the same energy and power in the guitars and vocals that accompany the band in its more than 40 years of stage.
Rock in Rio takes place on September 27th, 28th, 29th and 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th of October in the City of Rock, in the Olympic Park, in Barra da Tijuca.
The official sale of the tickets takes place on April 11, starting at 7pm.
