The bill for TW Classic 2018 is now complete and looks outstanding. Today, RICHARD ASHCROFT and BLØF are added, joining previously announced acts EDITORS, THE NATIONAL, KRAFTWERK 3-D, DEUS and NATHANIEL RATELIFF & THE NIGHT SWEATS on Saturday 14 July.
EDITORS and Werchter. A match made in heaven. Every new record is an event, and every concert a true experience. It’s a big year for them with a new album, a sold-out run at the Sportpaleis and icing on the cake headlining TW Classic. THE NATIONAL are a band that knows how to move the masses, the standard-bearers of American indie rock and an exceptional live act.
The history of modern pop music might have looked very different without KRAFTWERK and many experts say their influence has been greater, and certainly broader, than that of The Beatles. The electro pioneers are bringing their 3-D show to TW Classic. dEUS are a crucial band. They are the best thing that has ever happened to Belgian pop music, for what they’ve achieved and the belief they have propagated. The Antwerp quintet is back after eighteen months with a new guitarist, for a big celebration on familiar ground.
NATHANIEL RATELIFF & THE NIGHT SWEATS are the live sensation of the moment, and You Worry Me is already one of the big hits of 2018. Singalong hits S.O.B. and I Need Never Get Old are already evergreens, only two years after their release.
Getting back to the history of music, the chapter on Britpop would look and sound very different without RICHARD ASHCROFT. In terms of finesse and expressiveness, his solo work is on a par with his earlier successes with The Verve.
BLØF will open TW Classic. The quartet from Zeeland have got to be the most successful Dutch pop group of the last quarter of a century. BLØF have now found the route to Flanders thanks to Zoutelande and with the assistance of Geike Arnaert.
