KING GIZZARD & THE LIZARD WIZARD is one of the main psychedelic jewels in music in recent years. One would think they are straight out of the 60s when they play. KING GIZZARD’S magic is precisely that: they bring Frank Zappa and some even darker references to the 21st century.
The band was born in 2011 in Melbourne, Australia, and its members are Stu Mackenzie, Ambrose Kenny-Smith, Cook Craig, Joey Walker, Lucas Skinner, Michael Cavanah and Eric Moore. Their good old garage rock sound translated into two EPs in 2011 and their first album, 12 Bar Bruise, released in 2012. They never stopped after that, releasing album upon album – 15 releases in barely seven years – showing great productivity and vitality, a rarity in today’s music scene (inevitably, they also remind us of Zappa here). Each work follows a new idea, which renders each album completely different from the previous one. From the jazz influences in Quarters (2015), to the acoustic character of Paper Mâché Dream Balloon (2015) and the progressive sound of I’m Your Mind Fuzz (2014), KING GIZZARD & THE LIZARD WIZARD are always looking for new ground, even when that means a dialogue between the new and the old is established. Two more albums were released in 2019, the much praised Fishing for Fishes and Infest the Rats’ Nest.
Considering the band’s productivity they may well show up in Portugal in the summer with three or four more albums in the bag. One thing is for sure, KING GIZZARD & THE LIZARD WIZARD will amaze and thrill the public at Meco in Portugal during the next Super Bock Super Rock Festival – and the trip will be unforgettable.

GOLDLINK is one of the most exciting and promising names of today’s hip hop. He is well acquainted with the rules of hip hop but this rapper doesn’t miss the opportunity to venture into more alternative terrain. A young D’Anthony Carlos introduced himself as Gold Link James and began to be noticed as he shared some of his tracks online, earning a steady volume of followers from early on. Despite his success, the young musician took a break to come back in full force in 2013, this time as GOLDLINK.
The songs the rapper shared on SoundCloud were increasingly popular, which in turn caught the eye of producer Kaytranada and Danish electronic artist Galimatias. In 2014 he released his first mixtape, The God Complex, which was well received by public and critics alike, the latter considering it one of the best mixtapes of 2014. The following year he began working with producer Rick Rubin, who became one of the main influences on the rapper’s musical language and on his next mixtape, And After That, We Didn’t Talk. The success of these releases saw GoldLink signed by American record label RCA, which would release his first album in 2017, At What Cost. This album is set in the musical tradition of GOLDLINK’s native city of Washington DC, where the rapper fits comfortably, and features guest appearances of such names as Wale, Shy Glizzy, Steve Lacy, Jazmine Sullivan, Kaytranada, Mýa, and Brent Faiyaz.
The success of the album’s single, “Crew”, featuring Brent Faiyaz and Shy Glizzy, earned him the nomination for Best rap/Sung performance at the Grammys. A year later he did land the Grammy award thanks to his collaboration with Christina Aguilera in the song “Like I Do”. His second album, Diaspora, with guest appearances from Pusha T; Tyler, the Creator; Khalid and Wizkid, was released in 2017 and constitutes another jewel to be enjoyed live by the public at yet another Super Bock Super Rock.
