A really strong start for NorthSide with names like BON IVER, MAJOR LAZER and THE STREETS is now up with eight new amazing names including one of the hottest R & B names right now.

The Texan KHALID has four songs on the American Top 100 this week including the two huge hit “Eastside (with Benny Blanco and Halsey)” and “Love Lies”. The songs follow up on hits like “Location”, “Silence” and “Young, Dumb & Broke”, each of which has more than 600,000 streams on Spotify. The Grammy nominated R & B singer, along with hits in his own name, also contributed to Logic, Marshmello, Calvin Harris and Shawn Mendes hits. When Khalid released “American Teen” 19th, Rolling Stone Magazine called the album “the freshest and most surprising debut album of the year”, and his first Danish concert was upgraded to Tap1 before the ticket sale was started. Khalid is one of the world’s hottest young names right now, and this summer he takes his thoughtful and relevant R & B to NorthSide for the first time.

In 2013 FOALS went from being a critics favorite to being one of the most popular rock names in England. With the release of “Holy Fire”, the band once again won a nomination for this year’s Mercury Prize, and both the album and single “Inhaler” were voted Best Year of the Year, while Q Magazine voted them as the Lives of the Year. The award came after an outstanding concert as the main name of the Glastonbury Festival that year, and two years later, Q Magazine Foals named Best Act in the World Today!  At home there has also been a lot of praise for the band, among others, from GAFFA, which gave five stars to the band’s latest album, What Went Down, which they called “At one time fragile and aggressive and really, really good.”  FOALS has last played in Denmark in 2016.

There are not many of the old grunge bands left, but fortunately, we still have ALICE IN CHAINS. The band has released three albums since William DuVall joined in 2006 as a replacement for deceased Layne Staley, and the songwriter succeeded in lifting an unusually heavy legacy in an impressive way. However, the band is still directed by Jerry Cantrell whose harmonies and guitar solos are sharper than ever and are essential in classics like “Rooster”, “Nutshell”, “Would?” And “Man in the Box”. The groundbreaking and influential band has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide and adds this summer for the first time the road past Aarhus.

Since the breakthrough with “Habits (Stay High)” in 2014, the Swedish pop star TOVE LO has mixed crazy pop with provocative videos and a clear modern feminist approach. This is evident in hits like “Talking Body”, “Cool Girl”, “Disco Tits” and “Bitches”, where the enthralling electropop both challenges and excites. On the stage, TOVE LO is a colorful and extremely energetic performer who will certainly create a party in Ådalen.

L.O.C. is one of the biggest names in Danish music. The popularity has grown steadily since the release of the debut album “Dominology” and he is the rare combination of artist and entertainer who, with a huge and loyal fan base, both draws good reviews and great sales figures on his releases. Hits like “Moment”, “Sorry,” “Frk. Escobar “and” Marquis “speak their clear language, and the latest chapter in the history of L.O.C. written to April, where Liam is current with his ninth album. Thus, completely new music is ready when L.O.C. for the first time, guests get to NorthSide, and it’s quite okay to have high expectations for his first festival concert at home.

The last time SUSPEKT visited NorthSide, they closed the Blue Stage on the second day of the festival with a concert unlike something ever seen before in Ådalen. Provocative monster hits were delivered in a magic demonstration that included a host of guests for a surprising and hugely entertaining show. That’s why SUSPEKT is always welcome at NorthSide, and it will definitely be a great experience when they return to the Blue stage.

Singer Emilie Molsted performs under the name of JADA and has shortly built a huge interest in his talent due to the songs “Pure” and “Keep Cool”. JADAS’ two featured pop-up promises good for the future, and the silent songwriter and producer has shown to her that she has both a sublime vocal, strong material and the ability to convolute her audience.

Alstrup brothers from Thy, together with their band JONAH BLACKSMITH, have been victorious at the Danish festivals and venues with stories about their family from Northwest Jutland over the last three years. The roots are now being explored in a new and innovative film concert, where music and stories meet in a documentary about Grandfather Johannes Smed, who appears behind the band for the concerts. The praised movie concert is a beautiful insight into a unique family story, and the combination of great stories and amazing music is like nothing else ever featured on NorthSide.
