Kendrick Lamar confirmed for Rock in Roma 2020

ROCK IN ROMA and HUMBLE AGENCY announce today what will be the concert event of 2020: great protagonist of the 12th edition of the ROCK IN ROME in fact it will be the rapper and composer winner of the Pulitzer Prize KENDRICK LAMAR who will perform for the first time in Rome, all ‘Capannelle Racecourse, Tuesday 7 July 2020.

Seven years have passed since his last performance in Italy, over 2,500 days in which the best rapper in circulation has transcended the hip-hop genre marrying him perfectly to soul, funky, R&B and jazz sounds, always going beyond the borders where no one dares. Unreachable lands, but conquered and won by the unstoppable Lamar.

After the release of the last album “DAMN.”, Sketched a few hours after its release in first place on iTunes in 65 countries of the world – including Italy, where it received the gold disc certification – LAMAR edited the OST of the film Marvel “THE BLACK PANTHER”, the first cinecomic to receive an Oscar nomination for best film. The soundtrack brings together the best of the American hip hop scene and the single “ALL THE STARS” feat. SZA has risen to the top of the radio and streaming charts all over the world, positioning itself in the Top 15 of the most listened to tracks on Spotify.

The young Compton rapper, born in 1987, opened the 60th edition of the GRAMMY AWARDS2018 with an incredible live performance. LAMAR‘s medley included tracks such as “XXX.”, “LUST.” “DNA.”, “HUMBLE.”, “King’s Dead” (taken from the soundtrack of the movie Black Panther), his collaboration with Rich The Kid “New Freezer. ”Bono and The Edge from U2 and Dave Chappelle also performed on stage with LAMAR. At the end of the evening, LAMAR took home 5 awards: Best Rap Album – “DAMN.”, Best Rap Song – “HUMBLE.”, Best Rap Performance – “HUMBLE.”, Best Rap / Sung Performance – “LOYALTY.” feat Rihanna and Best Music Video- “HUMBLE.”

After the success of the Grammys, KENDRICK LAMAR has continued to surprise the world and himself reaching goals that no other artist, rapper, had ever reached. In April 2018 he was awarded the PULITZER AWARD for the album “DAMN.”: It is the first time in the 102-year history of the award that a rapper receives the Pulitzer for music. The Compton artist has joined the likes of Aaron Copland, Charles Ives, John Adams, Bob Dylan, Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane and Hank Williams.
