Jamie xx confirmed for Super Bock Super Rock 2022

Jamie Smith, better known by the name JAMIE XX, is an English musician, producer and DJ, known for being a member of the band The xx, but also for his live performances. In 2007 he formed The xx, accompanied by school friends Romy Madley Croft, Oliver Sim and Baria Qureshi. Two years later, in August 2009, they released “xx”, a first record that would leave its mark on the recent history of British music. In 2010, he rose to fame as a solo artist for producing a series of Gil Scott-Heron songs from the album “I ’m New Here”. The singles “NY Is Killing Me” and “I’ll Take Care Of U” were present on British radio, but also throughout Europe, drawing public and critical attention to Jamie xx’s creative vision.

This work would give rise to the album “We’re New Here”, a work that was acclaimed by critics, being even considered a masterpiece by some publications. This success earned him collaborations with names like Drake or Alicia Keys. Singles like “Loud Places” and “Gosh” anticipated his first album of originals. “In Color” was released in 2015 and featured collaborations with Oliver Sim, Four Tet, Young Thug, Popcaan, among others. This album, named for a Mercury Prize and a Grammy, it would end up winning over all those looking for sophisticated electronics, which depart from genres such as trip hop and house, seeking to challenge what is already known.

In 2020, he released “Idontknow”, the first single in five years JAMIE XX continues to look for new ideas and brings some of these recent discoveries to Super Bock Super Rock on July 16th at the Super Bock Stage.
