Øya Festival has confirmed three new names for Wednesday, August 7th, where they already have The Cure and IDLES in place – JAMES BLAKE has just released his fourth album and is ready for the biggest stage in Tøyenparken. This will be his first concert in Norway for over four years. In addition, the great British hope REX ORANGE COUNTY and boy genius member JULIEN BAKER are also confirmed.

JAMES BLAKE’s mix of electronic minimalism, with a grip on dubstep and RnB, has made him a popular artist and sought after partner for the past ten years. His very recent album ‘Assume Form’ is seen as the start of a new direction and as a career highlight.

Blake started his career with a little bundle of EPs that provided for increasing curiosity and respect in the music press. The debut album was released in 2011 and was an instant success. The sequel Overgrown from 2013 won the renowned Mercury Prize and entered the top 10 in several countries, including in Norway. The success continued with The Color in Anything from 2016.

JULIEN BAKER from Memphis is one of organisers favorites in the wave of strong, young songwriters who are about to gain a larger audience. On her own, she has released Sprained Ankle (2015) and Turn Out the Lights (2017). Some became acquainted with her last year through the trio boy genius, consisting of Baker, Lucy Dacus and Phoebe Bridgers. Her stripping, folk-based expression and good songs are very good to each other.

Young Alexander O’Connor makes music under the name REX ORANGE COUNTY. The multi-instrumentist grew up on a mix of soul, rock and pop. He has already released two albums, and there are great expectations for the next musical step. He contributed to Tyler The Creator’s album Flower Boy and has performed with Skepta. His own delicate songs constantly create great curiosity with the audience. We believe that 2019 will be a year in which many more notice REX ORANGE COUNTY.
