Headliners announced for Bergenfest 2021 in Norway

The Christmas holidays are approaching, but before organsiers head off for the holidays, they would like to tell you that headliners for all the festival days in 2021 are in place! Wednesday ends with ROBYN, BIFFY CLYRO rocks Thursday, ZARA LARSSON tops the Friday party and LARS VAULAR and MICHAEL KIWANUKA will be the biggest guns on the festival’s last day.

Emerging in the early 2000s, BIFFY CLYRO drew loyal fans with their grunge, hardcore, and prog-rock-influenced sound that found them combining hooky choruses with unusual song forms and and galloping rhythmic meters. While their early albums helped build their fan base in UK, they broke through to an international audience with 2009s Only Revolutions, which peaked at number three on the UK album charts and earned a Mercury Prize nomination.

The Swedish pop sensation ZARA LARSSON is undoubtedly one of Scandinavia’s most beloved and talented suppliers of hard-hitting, emotional and danceable electro-pop. She entered the Scandinavian public already as an 11-year-old, and is today a heavyweight in international pop music with billions of streams and a live show that enchants full arenas around the world. One of the highlights of the summer is when ZARA LARSSON headlines on Friday at Bergenfest.

Soul Prince MICHAEL KIWANUKA is one of the most talented and distinctive artists of our time. He offers modern soul – inspired by afro and folk rock with overtones of jazz. The 2019 album “Kiwanuka” was met with great enthusiasm and went to the top of several lists of this year’s best releases. His music is also known through series such as “Little Big Lies”, “Seven Seconds”, “The Get Down” and “Animal Kingdom”. MICHAEL KIWANUKA takes the audience into a world of genuine dimensions and personal lyrics.

LARS VAULAR has been an audience favorite since he set a completely new standard for Norwegian hip hop with “Rett upp og ned” and the album “Helt om natten, helt om dagen” in 2010. Since then, he has distinguished himself as one of Norway’s greatest artists and an artist who transcends genres and generations. In 2019, he released the excellent album “More places always” which includes the super catchy “Body Language” and the Röyksopp collaboration “Two Minutes”.

After the New Year, organisers look forward to unveiling what they have planned for the extra festival day on Tuesday 15th June. They also have 50 other confirmed artists to share with you – both new names and artists transferred from the 2020 program.
