3 International names join Smukfest 2021

For 41 years, the music poster for Smukfest has been completely versatile, and organisers stick to it – Three very different international top names for you today!

The still highly active jazz legend HERBIE HANCOCK, the German electro-pioneers KRAFTWERK in 3D as well as American metal / hip hop fusion band LIMP BIZKIT.

Organisers are extremely proud to present the versatile, curious and style-creating jazzman and pianist, composer and producer HERBIE HANCOCK. In the 60’s he was part of Miles Davis ‘style-creating band called “The Second Great Quintet” and Hancock can be heard on a large number of Davis’ releases. In the 70s he was at the forefront of the fusion of jazz, funk and rock, with releases such as the world hit “Rockit” (taken from the album “Future Shock”, 1983), Hancock also included electronic dance music in his repertoire, in the usual groundbreaking way. Throughout his career, HERBIE HANCOCK has received no less than 14 Grammy Awards and is still hugely active and constantly touring around the world.

After touring the world with their successful 3-D concerts, electro-pioneers KRAFTWERK are now ready to move into Bøgeskoven in Skanderborg. With these 3-D concerts, KRAFTWERK brings together both music and performance art into a true “Gesamtkunstwerk”. The multimedia project KRAFTWERK was started in 1970 by Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider in Düsseldorf. KRAFTWERK’S compositions are filled with extensive use of innovative techniques, synthetic voices and computer rhythms and have had great international influence across a wide range of music genres, from Electro to Hip Hop and from Techno to SynthPop!

With the self-proclaimed ‘freak’ Fred Durst at the helm, the metal / hip hop fusion band LIMP BIZKIT has been on stage around the world since 1994. LIMP BIZKIT’S first commercial breakthrough came in 1997 with the debut album ‘Three Dollar Bill Y’all $’, which sold over 1.5 million copies and helped create a whole new generation of rock fans through MTV. Several more albums followed and today the band and currently writing their upcoming album, ‘Stampede of the Disco Elephants’.

While fans of the band around the world are waiting anxiously, you can safely take a dive into their back catalog, which with the five most played songs in itself has over 1 billion (yes 1,000.00,000,000) streams on Spotify alone. Can’t they make the beech forest rock when classics like ‘Behind Blue Eyes’ , ‘Break Stuff ‘ or the legendary ‘ Rollin ‘ are blown up to the max at the PA system this summer ..?
