UK’s Green Man Festival adds King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard as Friday headliner

on

Joining the Green Man Festival line up as Friday night headliner are the formidable KING GIZZARD AND THE LIZARD WIZARD who will bring their psychedelic rock to the Brecon Beacons after releasing no fewer than five acclaimed studio albums in 2017. No strangers the festival world, 2015 and 2016 saw King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard curate their own festival Gizzfest in their native Oz, but we’re absolutely over the moon to host the band for their first ever headline slot – it’s going to be tremendous! After a sold out tour across the UK in February and no other UK performances announced for the rest of 2018 – we cannot wait to see them on the Mountain Stage!

Also making a storming return is CATE LE BON, returning after last year’s performance to dazzle once again with her critically-lauded work, sang in both Welsh and English. Joining her is BRIT and Mercury Prize-nominated ANNA CALVI, having last performed at Green Man in 2015 and proven herself time and time again, across two albums and two EPs, to be an inimitable artist. JOAN AS A POLICEWOMAN, a true modern icon whose twenty-five year career spans seven albums and includes work with the likes of Lou Reed, Elton John and Sheryl Crow also joins the line up, along with BLACK ANGELS who will make an electric Green Man debut following the release of their fifth album Death Song last year.

Joining that snazzy lot are FLOATING POINTS, the DJ whose cross-genre productions encompass jazz, soul and classical music refashioned into unstoppable house bangers that are sure to ignite the Brecon Beacons; and JOHN MAUS, whose acclaimed fourth studio album Screen Memories was released at the end of 2017 and will be followed in April this year by Addendum, a vinyl-only album comprised of songs that were left off Screen Memories. Electronic duo SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO have changed the face of techno and will perform alongside Hackney’s all female Deep Throat Choir.

Newly announced acts also include SUSANNE SUNDFØR, whose mix of electronic pop and folk has made her one of Norway’s biggest stars; Welsh nurse turned critically acclaimed pop powerhouse KELLY LEE OWENS and ROLLING BLACKOUTS COASTAL FEVER, the indie Australian outfit who are spending 2018 touring with Boy Azooga and Stella Donnelly.
