The Strokes and Jorja Smith join the NOS Alive line up!

THE STROKES join the line up on the 11th July at NOS Alive’20. The New York band will perform on the NOS stage, on the same day as the already confirmed Da Weasel, Two Door Cinema Club, Haim, Parcels, Wolf Parade and Alec Benjamin.

The band soon made history from their first album, “Is This It”. The album, released in 2001, was received with great acclaim – having been chosen by Rolling Stones and NME as one of the best albums ever – and songs like the thunderous “Last Time” and “Someday” captivated millions of fans.

The albums “Room on Fire” (2003) followed; “First Impressions of Earth” (2006); “Angles” (2011) and Comedown Machine (2013), which gave us hymns like “Reptilia”, “Undercover of Darkness”, “You Only Live Once”.

THE STROKES are said to be as influential for their era as the Velvet Underground or the Ramones were in another era, having influenced bands like The Killers, Arctic Monkeys and Franz Ferdinand.

JORJA SMITH is another new big confirmation in the 14th edition of NOS Alive’20. The artist who made history with one of the most applauded concerts at the Festival last year, confirms her presence on the 8th July on the NOS stage, joining the already confirmed Kendrick Lamar and Black Pumas for this extra date.

It was 2016 when “Blue Lights” became his official entry into the world of music and it was thanks to her unique voice that the single was nominated at the MOBO Awards in the category of “Best Song”; then it catapulted to streaming platforms, such as SoundCloud and Spotify, conquering thousands of fans.

Jorja’s strength and charisma leave no doubt about her grandeur on stage, however, it was her participation in Drake’s “More Life” compilation that elevated her to the status of a star she is today. “Let Me Down”, released in 2018 with the participation of Stormzy, is another of the successes that helped the artist’s recognition, followed by the participation in Kendrick Lamar’s album on the track “I Am” that was part of the film’s soundtrack. Black Panther.

“On My Mind”, “Teenage Fantasy” and “Beautiful Little Fools”, are other of his great successes, all themes that reflect an active social concern and that reaffirm his role as a strong defender of female power. Almost two years after the release of Lost and Found, JORJA SMITH continues to promote the album and dominate stages and audiences wherever he goes. It is not by chance that she is considered by critics as the successor to Lauryn Hill, with a voice of her own.
