Sziget’s Colosseum is entering a new era this summer. The open-air electronic music arena has been redesigned exclusively for the Island of Freedom to be bigger and bolder than ever, with world-class sound and lighting and an incredible central stage. For its debut festival, the venue will play host to a progressive and eclectic lineup of renowned DJs from noon till dawn, including HONEY DIJON, CHRIS LIEBING, DIXON, DR. RUBINSTEIN, MATADOR, RØDHÅD, LA FLEUR, JORIS VOORN, KÖLSCH, SASHA, I HATE MODELS and lots more.
The line-up sits within Sziget’s major programme of music and arts across 60 stages on Budapest’s Óbuda Island, with over 1000 acts set to perform at the festival between 5-11 August 2020.
A European techno pioneer, CHRIS LIEBING’S acclaimed and lasting career in electronic music is testament to the quality of his DJ sets; immersive, physical workouts which draw from an encyclopedic knowledge of the genre. A tireless curator, he’s sure to light up Sziget’s Colosseum this summer.
Also taking to the stage is Chicago’s HONEY DIJON. With a brazen style for blending all genres, Dijon is known for captivating crowds with her versatile sound and for bringing total dance-floor chaos wherever she plays. She’ll be joined at the Colosseum by Berlin-based techno enigma Dr. Rubinstein, a DJ who worked her way up the city’s club circuit without holding residencies or doing any press – instead building her reputation with an unfaltering ability to wow ravers. Fellow Berlin-based DJ, LA FLEUR, will also be at the festival, bringing her elegant take on house and techno to the arena.
Elsewhere over the course of the week, the Colosseum will play host to electrifying sets from JORIS VOORN, co-owner of the Amsterdam-based labels Rejected and Green, Danish DJ and producer KÖLSCH, whose melodic, emotion-induced brand of techno has sold millions of records worldwide, four-time DJ Awards winner and Grammy Award nominee SASHA and many, many more.
Taking place 5-11 August 2020, Sziget brings together a programme of theatre, cabaret, installations, performances and art. Headline acts this year include DUA LIPA, MAJOR LAZOR, THE STROKES, KINGS OF LEON and CALVIN HARRIS, with more to be announced. Set in the heart of Budapest on Óbuda Island, Sziget is a true city within the city with its 500,000+ Szitizens attending from over 100 countries each year. Sziget invites you to explore, get lost and find yourself again on The Island of Freedom.
