The epic line-up includes a diverse roister of international heavy sensations, championed Aussies and headlining spectacle.
Heavy culture pillars SLIPKNOT announced their long-awaited return to Australia under the expansion of their Knotfest festival banner earlier this week – confirming a trek to the land Down Under with Knotfest Australia set for March of 2023.
With consecutive appearances confirmed for March 23rd in Melbourne, March 24th in Sydney and March 25th in Brisbane, the news arrived after a teaser campaign that played out via Slipknot’s social media in recent days. The week prior, the band shared the iconic, dark circus imagery synonymous with the Knotfest experience aimed at Australia that read, “coming soon”.
The confirmation from Slipknot marks the first time since 2016 that the band has touched down in Australia. The last time SLIPKNOT toured the region, the band was supporting .5 The Gray Chapter making it nearly seven years since the band last played for the Aussie fans.
Further proving that some things are very much worth the wait, SLIPKNOT have unveiled the complete line-up for the inaugural edition of Knotfest Down Under and to describe the bill as mammoth is almost an understatement. The three-day stretch will see Slipknot top a roster loaded with international star power. Taking on the coveted direct support slot, Australian arena sensations PARKWAY DRIVE will showcase a fiery set, representing their Aussie countrymen with new selections from their most recent album, Darker Still. Thrash legends MEGADETH will also anchor the bill, performing selections from their latest masterclass, The Sick, the Dying… and the Dead!
Showcasing a powerful presence of Australia’s brand of heavy on the bill, additional Aussie bands featured on the Knotfest roster include metalcore juggernaut NORTHLANE, Melbourne-based metalcore marauders ALPHAWOLF, and genre-crushers VOID OF VISION – all representing among the home country’s very best.
Additional international star power on the bill includes sets from shred specialists TRIVIUM, viking overlords AMON AMARTH, hard rock stalwarts Story of the Year and Gothenburg champions of melodic metal, IN FLAMES. Coupled with the veteran rank of many of the artists on the fest, heavy music’s emerging class will also be represented well with skyrocketing sensations like SPIRITBOX, KNOCKED LOOSE, BAD OMENS and MALEVOLENCE all underscoring a massive 14-band ticket with no lulls.
The first-ever Knotfest Australia follows Slipknot’s recent release of their latest studio triumph in The End, So Far. Received with both critical and commercial praise, the album earned several #1 spots internationally, debuting at #1 upon it’s release in Australia – reiterating the appetite for the Knot among the Aussies.
