Today, even more names are added to this year’s Smukfest line up, which brings the number of bands and artists up to 122 from home and abroad.

RICK ASTLEY is one of today’s fabulous additions. There is absolutely no real 80s party without him and the signature hit “Never Gonna Give You Up” from 1987. It shot the Englishman directly at the stars in the decade of the shoulder pads, and there have been plenty of highlights in his career since then. The now 56-year-old singer and radio personality has long since achieved cult status. This was perhaps first made clear in 2007, when “Never Gonna Give You Up” became the subject of a meme called Rickrolling. A worldwide internet joke that was about fooling his friends into the Astley hit. The movement was so massive that it revitalized the singer’s career, and new songs were written and released, including the album “50” (2016).

RICK ASTLEY continues to have a wonderful voice that not least the British have been able to hear on the radio for the past many years. If you are more into TikTok than a transistor, then Astley is only even more significant with 2.1 million. followers! All in all, an artist who has managed to renew himself in step with the pace of the world, and organisers are very much looking forward to welcoming him into the woods on August 5th, 2022.
