Primavera Sound’s journey through Brazil, Chile and Argentina already has a soundtrack. Presented simultaneously, the line-ups of the first editions of the festival in São Paulo, Santiago de Chile and Buenos Aires are already revealing themselves to be an ambitious and balanced combination of the personality that has made Primavera Sound the reliable musical thermometer that it is today and an extensive representation of local talent, connecting the twenty years of history of the festival born in Barcelona with a future that will also be built from its new locations. Primavera Sound is everything that has already happened, but also everything that is yet to happen.
ARCTIC MONKEYS, reactivated as the new classics they already are, the eternally avant-garde BJÖRK, the urban superstar TRAVIS SCOTT and the New Zealander LORDE, who has become the most singular pop icon of her generation after the release of Solar Power, headline three line-ups full of names and particularities, enough to explain the entire palette of colours of contemporary music. A line-up with very diverse sounds and in which also shine the sentimental troubadour FATHER JOHN MISTY, CHARLI XCX in her race to refine the formula of the perfect chorus, MITSKI after her triumphant reappearance with Laurel Hell, the personal folk-rock universe of PHOEBE BRIDGERS, INTERPOL, representatives of the New York sound of the beginning of the millennium, the infallible BEACH HOUSE and the rupturism of ARCA.
For each new Primavera Sound to integrate naturally into the cultural fabric of the city that hosts it, the big international names coexist in the three line-ups with musical ambassadors from each scene. Also, so that the exchange of influences is total, the sweaty hits of BAD GYAL, the immortal legacy of LOS PLANETAS, AMAIA’S trademark songbook, the costumbrismo rock of CAROLINA DURANTE and JOHN TALABOT’S signature techno of will land in São Paulo, Santiago de Chile and Buenos Aires, will arrive from Spain to meet the pop artisan CAROLINE POLACHEK, JAPANESE BREAKFAST who is already consecrated thanks to Jubilee, the disco revival of JESSIE WARE, the brazenness of SHYGIRL, the Japanese band CHAI and the rebellious rap of JPEGMAFIA. And of course, the incomparable SHELLAC: could anyone imagine a Primavera Sound without them, wherever it is held?
As with the Barcelona event, the Primavera Sound of São Paulo (from the 31st October to the 6th November), Santiago de Chile (from the 7th to the 13th November) and Buenos Aires (from the 7th to the 13th November) will be designed as a totally urban festival which will hold the two main days in their respective central venues (Distrito Anhembi, Parque Bicentenario de Cerrillos and Parque de los Niños respectively) and will also occupy different venues and spaces in the city on the rest of the days to highlight the personality of each event. The Argentinian and Chilean editions will also head towards the festival dates with the Road to Primavera day, which will bring JACK WHITE, PIXIES and CAT POWER to Buenos Aires and Santiago de Chile on the 14th and 16th October respectively. The best taster imaginable leading up to the definitive landing of Primavera Sound in Latin America: new sounds, new synergies, for the Primavera community to continue to grow around the world.
