Nine new names are added to the 2019 Bospop festival line up – FLOGGING MOLLY, JAMES MORRISON, KOVACS, JIMMY BARNES, THE WHITE BUFFALO, JESSICA WILDE, THE LACHY DOLEY GROUP, THE DOORS ALIVE and MARC BROUSSARD have been confirmed for Bospop 2019.
Previously announce acts are Sting, John Fogerty, Snow Patrol, Nile Rodgers & Chic, Skunk Anansie and Kodaline. This year Bospop does not have two but three festival days with a complete program on both stages. The 39th edition of the festival takes place on Friday 12th to Sunday 14th July at the A2 Weert Noord.
The title of the most recent FLOGGING MOLLY album is Life Is Good and that feeling is also known by the group during gigs. “Above all, we are a positive band,” says singer Dave King. “Our shows are a celebration: of life, of good and bad.” For more than twenty years now, King and his friends have been in an inimitable way fusing traditional Irish music with punk rock and often sway a political message in the energetic songs.
This singer-songwriter broke through in 2006 with debut single You Give Me Something and successor Wonderful World became a world hit. Meanwhile JAMES MORRISON is known as someone who is perfect in writing and performing the most beautiful love songs, expressed in the ultimate way with his characteristic voice that sounds hoarse, sometimes almost raspy. His music is therefore a great inspiration for artists like Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith and George Ezra, but he himself remains modest: “I was just lucky to be one of the first.”
SHARON KOVACS stood for the first time in 2014 at Bospop, the year in which the unique soul singer broke through the single My Love and was crowned ‘serious talent’ by 3FM. The promise was completely fulfilled with her debut album Shades Of Black, with which she effortlessly occupied the number 1 position of the Dutch album list. Last year finally appeared the successor Cheap Smell, where Kovacs sings about broken relationships. Thanks to this intensely personal record and her flawless live reputation, the Brabant singer still has a place at the top of current Dutch pop music.
