One of the globe’s biggest stars Michael Bublé is returning to the stage this summer for a UK exclusive at Barclaycard presents BST Hyde Park. Today some very special guests are announced for 13th July – Van Morrison, Bananarama, The Feeling and The Shires.
Multiple-Grammy award winner VAN MORRISON is a legendary musician, rising to prominence in the mid-60s as lead singer of Northern Irish R&B band Them, with whom he recorded garage rock hit “Gloria”. Morrison went on to release his major solo hit “Brown Eyed Girl”, which remains a rock staple to this day. It is one of the most downloaded and most played songs of the entire 1960s.
Morrison’s solo career blossomed with the success of 1970s Moondance, his first million selling record and staple in ‘greatest albums of all time’ lists. A string of acclaimed albums throughout the 70s followed, including Tupelo Honey, which produced hit single “Wild Night”, and Saint Dominic’s Preview, released in 1972, which spawned hits such as “Redwood Tree” and “Jackie Wilson Said I’m in Heaven When You Smile.”
In 1993, Morrison was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and took home the BRIT award for Outstanding Contribution to Music the following year. He received an OBE in 1996 and in 2003 was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Morrison’s whopping 39th solo album You’re Driving Me Crazy is out 27th April, so he’ll be bringing hits new and old to BST Hyde Park this summer.
BANANARAMA are essential to the soundtrack of the 80s, with tunes “Shy boy”, “Help”, “It Ain’t What You Do It’s The Way You Do It” and the iconic “Venus”. They wowed fans with their huge reformation last year, performing a UK-wide sold out tour. A pioneering pop girl group, the trio’s 1987 Wow! spawned one of their biggest UK hits “Love in the First Degree”, and by 2002, Bananarama had sold 40 million records worldwide. The trio (Sara Dallin, Siobhan Fahey and Keren Woodward) have since gone on to cement their name in the Guinness World Records as the girl band with the most chart entries in history.
BST Hyde Park has become such an important part of the year. To be included in this year’s line up along side so many wonderful acts is just joyous! – Siobhan Fahey Bananarama
British band THE FEELING first broke onto the music scene with “Fill My Little World” in late 2005, which went on to become one of the year’s biggest hits. Their most recent record The Feeling, was the group’s fifth studio release before a short hiatus, ending less than a year later when the band made a surprise return to perform live on BBC Radio 2. BST Time Hyde Park is one of their first shows in nearly two years!
The biggest selling British Country duo Ben Earle and Crissie Rhodes are THE SHIRES. The pair have been making waves in the Country music scene and beyond since their debut album “Brave” entered the UK Top 10 in 2015, making them the first home-grown country music act in history to score a top ten album in the UK. The Shires have continued to make the history books, being the first British act to win the prestigious Country Music Award in Nashville. Following their UK tour this year and the release of their highly anticipated third album “Accidently On Purpose”, they’ll be bringing their massive country-pop choruses and emotive words about their whirlwind journey to Hyde Park.
With a delightful mix of rock n roll, jazz, pop, country and indie – Michael Bublé guests will offer something for every music fan this summer.
