Ypsigrock Festival, the Italian boutique summer festival that takes place from August 9th to 12th in Castelbuono, releases another part of the lineup of artists that will be performing in the stunning medieval Sicilian village. Located in the hills about one hour outside of Palermo, just a 20 minute drive from the Mediterranean Sea, performances happen within historic courtyards, cloisters, pine woods, desecrated churches and the iconic castle’s square.
JESUS AND THE MARY CHAIN, AURORA, … AND YOU WILL KNOW US BY THE TRAIL OF DEAD, HER and GIRLS NAMES are now added to THE HORRORS, THE RADIO DEPT., YOUNGR, BLUE HAWAII and SHAME. Many of the bands announced for this 22nd edition of Ypsigrock Festival will be hosted for exclusive Italian shows or even their first ever Italian appearances – a tastemaker booking policy that the festival is renowned for (Alt-J, Jon Hopkins, Django Django, Hinds and many others played their Italian debuts at Ypsigrock Festival).
The artist-bookings shows a multifaceted cross-section among the most exciting names in the international alternative and indie scene. The unique setting and exclusive live performances make Ypsigrock Festival once again one of the most anticipated events in Italy’s and Europe’s festival scene. The surprises are not over yet – in the coming weeks, more artists will be announced for this upcoming festival that promises to be even more prestigious thanks to some important partnerships.
Among others, Ypsigrock Festival is part of Manifesta 12’s collateral programme. Beginning June 16th, the The European Biennial of Contemporary Art will host numerous and different international artists in and around the Sicilian capital Palermo.
