To celebrate the release of their latest album Mercury – Act 1, IMAGINE DRAGONS announce the Mercury World Tour 2022 which will see them in Italy for a single date on 11th June 2022 in Milan, headliner of the I-Days festival at the Milan Trenno Hippodrome.
With 46 million albums sold worldwide, 74 billion streams, 4 platinum albums and over 30 platinum records for singles, IMAGINE DRAGONS remain one of the best-selling rock bands since at the turn of 2010 they literally reinvented the concept of rock, achieving extraordinary global success with hits such as Radioactive, Demons, Believer, Thunder and Whatever It Takes – to name a few. The only band to have three certified DIAMOND singles (10 times platinum) by Riaa (Demons, Radioactive and Believer), they dominate the ranking of the 3 best rock songs of the decade according to Billboard with Believer, Thunder and Radioactive.
The American band formed by Dan Reynolds (vocals, acoustic guitar, keyboard, percussion), Wayne Sermon (electric and acoustic guitar, electric mandolin, percussion, backing vocals), Ben McKee (bass, keyboard, synthesizer, percussion, backing vocals) and Daniel Platzman (drums, percussion, viola, backing vocals) takes its first steps in 2008, the year in which it publishes the first EP Speak to Me followed in 2010 by another EP It’s Time (platinum) and by the signing in 2011 of the recording contract with Interscope Records, a label belonging to the Universal Music Group and KIDinaCorner.
The band’s highly anticipated fifth studio album, Mercury – Act 1, is released on September 3, 2021 for Virgin Records. Produced by Rick Rubin it is a straightforward and spontaneous album that moves away from the metaphors overloaded lyrics of the past, focusing on lyrics that want to embrace emotional extremes, without any hesitation. The first samples of the new album, released simultaneously in March 2021, were Follow You and Cutthroat, the former of which marked its fastest rise to the top of the charts in Alternative radio airplay for the band. The next single, Wreked, recounts in a sort of intimate self-confession the journey into pain suffered by solo singer Dan Reynolds, following the death of his sister-in-law from cancer in 2019.
On October 28, the band released a new track and video, ENEMY, part of the soundtrack for Arcane, the League of Legends Netflix TV series that debuts on Sunday, November 7th.
