The Edmonton Folk Music Festival is excited to announce HOZIER, BLUE RODEO, AMANDA SHIRES, ANI DIFRANCO, THE HARPOONIST AND THE AXE MURDERER, and HURRAY FOR THE RIFF RAFF, August 8th – 11th, 2019.

Irish singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, HOZIER rose to global attention when his moody and soulful rock single, Take Me to Church, became a viral success followed by his self-titled album “Hozier” reaching #2 in the Billboard album charts and earned him a Grammy nomination in 2015.  The multiple platinum selling artist has recently released his 2nd Album, Wasteland, Baby!, and debuted straight to the number #1 slot on the Billboard and Album charts.

In his only Alberta date on this tour, HOZIER will headline opening night of the festival Thursday, August 8.

Canada’s beloved folk rock band needs no introduction. BLUE RODEO has developed into a veritable institution in their home country. In the thirty years since forming, they have sold over 4 million albums, won countless Juno awards, been inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, received a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame, and been named to the Order of Canada.

BLUE RODEO will close Saturday’s mainstage, August 10.

Texas born violinist and singer/songwriter AMANDA SHIRES makes heartfelt country and folk influenced music. She released the highly acclaimed To the Sunset in 2018.

AMANDA SHIRES will perform Friday, August 9.

Iconic singer/songwriter/activist/poet ANI DIFRANCO returns to territory that brought her to the world’s attention, recognized among the feminist pantheon for her entrepreneurship, social activism, and outspoken political lyrics.

ANI DIFRANCO will perform Saturday, August 10.

Known for their high energy, sweaty, dance floor boogeying  performance, THE HARPOONIST AND THE AXE MURDERER make music that is unapologetic. It’s the blues played the way it was meant to be played. Blues singer Dawn Pemberton will join them at the festival.

Raised on New York punk and alternative folk, ALYNDA SEGARRA left home at the age of 17, spending some time hopping trains across America before winding up in New Orleans. Alynda has honed her voice, playing with several strands of folk music and developing an idiosyncratic, all-encompassing Americana sound not to be missed.

HURRAY FOR THE RIFF RAFF will perform Saturday, August 10.

The Full line up of 60+ artists will be announced Wednesday, May 29.
