Depeche Mode is the first headliner for Primavera Sound Barcelona and Madrid 2023

DEPECHE MODE is the first headliner for the Barcelona and Madrid editions of Primavera Sound 2023!

This was revealed by the band at the press conference they held in Berlin to announce the release of their new album, Memento Mori, and a world tour which will be the festival debut of one of the fundamental names of the last forty years, responsible for synthesizing the language of techno-pop for the masses. DEPECHE MODE‘s visit to the festival will be part of Dave Gahan and Martin L. Gore’s first tour as a duo after the unexpected death of founding member Andrew Fletcher last May.

Their performances at Primavera Sound, on Friday 2nd June in Barcelona and Friday 9th June in Madrid, will be the only two dates the band will play in Spain.

The confirmation of DEPECHE MODE officially inaugurates the line-up of Primavera Sound 2023, which will be the same for the Barcelona and Madrid editions. A line-up to dive into the most exciting contemporary sounds that will first fill the Parc del Fòrum with music from the 1st to the 3rd of June and a week later, from the 8th to the 10th of June, it will debut on the site of the Ciudad del Rock in Arganda del Rey, a space specially designed for big music events that can be reached thanks to the shuttle bus service that the organisers will organise to ensure a smooth flow to and from the venue at all times. It will be a free service for all ticket holders that will connect Madrid and the Ciudad del Rock.

But the arrival of Primavera Sound in Madrid will not be limited to the Arganda del Rey site. Following the model of Barcelona, and as a trademark of the festival independently of the coordinates where it takes place, several venues in the capital will host a complementary programme of concerts leading up to the main days with the aim that Primavera Sound becomes part of the cultural fabric of the city. In addition, Primavera Sound Madrid will also have its own opening day on Wednesday the 7th of June to round off the maxim that will govern this double edition: the Madrid event will be a faithful reflection of the Barcelona festival.
