They are among the biggest icons in the rock, and now DEEP PURPLE is ready for Tons of Rock! The band with the world’s most famous guitar riff and defined rock comes to Oslo and Ekebergsletta in June 2020.
The Hardrock pioneers have sold over 100 million albums and are incorporated into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. DEEP PURPLE got their big breakthrough in the early 70’s, with legendary releases such as “In Rock”, “Machine Head” and “Made in Japan”, which stands as the standing of rock history. The band has a huge catalogue of big tracks, “Smoke on the Water”, “Highway Star”, “Black Night”, “Child in Time”, “Perfect Strangers”, etc. have eternal life.
WITHIN TEMPTATION is one of the most requested bands from the Tons of Rock audience. The tickets for their previous gig at Sentrum Scene were torn away in record speed. The band immediately embarked on a massive co-headliner tour with Evanescence and has headlined several of the world’s biggest festivals.
The symphonic Metal band from the Netherlands was formed in 1996 by guitarist Robert Westerholt and vocalist Sharon Den Adel and they have since then become home the country’s largest music exports. Organisers are thrilled to finally have these audience favourites at Tons of Rock!
The Swedish Viking gods, AMON AMARTH, are today one of the world’s largest metal bands, filling halls all over the world with their suggestive and rocking death metal. The band is growing year by year and this year’s album “Berserker” has lifted the band to new heights.
AMON AMARTH has its own text universe based on the Viking Age and is known for spectacular stage productions. To Tons of Rock 2020, they come with their biggest show ever!
Australian band AIRBOURNE is an unmistakable tribute to inspirations such as AC/DC, Thin Lizzy and Motörhead, but is also firmly planted on its own bones. They are known as a fantastic live band, and have warmed up for Iron Maiden and The Rolling Stones. They played recently at Rockefeller, and sold out several months in advance. Festival organisers are now looking forward to watching Tons of Rock for the summer!
Peter Tägtgren is the multi-talented artist from Sweden who is currently playing with the project Lindemann, along with Front figure Till Lindemann from Rammstein. Peter is also known as the Super producer in The Abyss studio (Sabaton, Dimmu Borgir, Immortal etc.) and the band Pain, but to Tons of Rock he comes with the band where everything started, one of Sweden’s most important metal bands, HYPOCRISY.
HYPOCRISY has since 1990 been shaping the entire Scandinavian metal genre, and we are looking forward to a massive show on Tons of Rock!
1349 is the soundtrack to Norwegian black metal. The Spellemann-nominated quartet is constantly touring around the world, and is sure to draw many international visitors to a concert at home. Now the damn machine that is 1349 are back with their seventh album “The Infernal Pathway”.
Earlier this year they released the single “Deathfight”, which is a commission work commissioned by the Munch Museum, Innovation Norway and Visit Norway. Guitarist Archaon stated in connection with the release that: “Munch is perhaps the largest Norwegian artist through history, along with Edvard Grieg. His works are enormously dark and unkind, reflecting a lot of anxiety, pain, and loneliness, as I interpret them. The mission was great for us”.
