Christine and the Queens to play Øya Festival on 9th August

CHRISTINE AND THE QUEENS have established themselves as one of Europe’s most exciting pop names, and will play the same day as ROBYN, YOUNG FERRARI and CULT OF LUNA. Since last time she visited the island, the audience has grown considerably, and she now headlines major concert venues and several festivals in Europe.

Héloïse Letissier is the brain and voice behind the name CHRISTINE AND THE QUEENS. The singer, the composer and the dancer make both songs and stage shows there are very good reasons to join. She creates electronic, dramatic pop with clear RnB references. Inspiration is suitable from David Bowie, modern hip hop, contemporary music and eighty-funk. Her latest album Chris came last year. NME, MOJO and The Guardian all thought it was one of last year’s top releases. The former stated that “she’s earned her own place in the pop icon history books”.

Héloïse Letissier is the pop star we need right now. She is stylish and smart, sensual and mysterious, sly and subversive, making gleamingly modern electro ear-candy, fizzing with funk and melody

The debut from 2014 became a major seller in France and led to a breakthrough in several European countries. The success was continued by last year’s strong follow-up. Her album has been published in both French and English.

Festival organisers strongly believe that CHRISTINE AND THE QUEENS are becoming a bigger phenomenon every year, with catchy songs and challenges of traditional social standards. This is just the start!
