Born in Oxnard, California, Brandon ANDERSON PAAK started playing drums as a child in his church band and it is known that he later worked on a marijuana plantation, all while honing his musical skills in pursuit of his dreams. The brilliant glimpses of his extraordinary talent began to be evident already in his first incarnation as Breezy Lovejoy, and were then fully realized in the transformation into ANDERSON PAAK with the debut album Venice and his six participations in the COMPTON gold disc by Dr. Dre, who fueled the wait for what would have been the perfect storm of his second release: Malibu (2016). The album was a sonic marvel that garnered rave reviews and nominated him for Grammy Awards for Best New Artist and Best Urban Contemporary Album, BET Hip Hop Awards for Best New Hip HoP Artist and NME Awards for Best New Artist.
The release of Oxnard in 2018 marked a new career peak for him, making his debut, according to Billboard, in first place in the independent album charts, fifth in the Rap charts, sixth in the Hip Hop / R & B charts and 11 in the Top 200. The phenomenal album was produced by Dr. Dre and features featuring hip-hop legends such as Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, J. Cole, Q-Tip and Pusha T.
Recently ANDERSON PAAK won the Grammy 2020 for Best R&B Album with Ventura beating BJ The Chicago Kid (1123), Lucky Daye (Painted), PJ Morton (Paul) and Ella Mai (Ella Mai); this victory was the first in an album category for the artist. Last year .Paak won in the Best Rap Performance category with his single “Bubblin”!
