All Points East returns August Bank Holiday Weekend 2021

All Points East have announced their next line up for their opening show on the August Bank Holiday Weekend. Performing on Friday 27 August will be LONDON GRAMMAR, JORJA SMITH, LOYLE CARNER, CELESTE, MURA MASA, MAHALIA and many of the best artists in the UK. This follows the latest wave of exciting announcements for All Points East with JAMIE XX AND KANO (Saturday August 28), APE Presents Field Day with BICEP and more (Sunday August 29) and FOALS, BOMBAY BICYCLE CLUB AND CARIBOU (Monday 30 August).

Moving three months later into the year to the August Bank Holiday, All Points East will take place in Victoria Park on 27th – 30th August 2021. Tickets are on sale from 12pm today, and previous All Points East customers can buy from 9am today in the pre-sale. Tickets for Jamie xx and Kano are now sold out, with the first batch for the latter selling out in minutes. General Admission tickets for Field Day have also sold out with only VIP packages remaining.

LONDON GRAMMAR’S epic show at All Points East comes just in time for their long-awaited new album Californian Soil, due to be released this April. It’s an exciting change of direction for the trio and vocalist Hannah Reid said the album deals with “themes of feminism and fame”. The singles ‘Baby It’s You’, ‘Lose Your Head’ and ‘How Does It Feel’ and the album title track have already blown fans away, which isn’t surprising given the unparalleled vocals of Reid, paired with the atmospheric electronics and subtle percussion by instrumentalists Dan Rothman and Dominic ‘Dot’ Major.

At the beginning of 2017, the group released the first fruits of those sessions, the single ‘Rooting for You.’ Sophomore album Truth Is a Beautiful Thing followed that June. With collaborators including Paul Epworth, Youth, and Jon Hopkins, the album saw the trio taking their sparse electronic pop into more cinematic territory, becoming their first ever UK No.1. Now with a brand-new album in tow, they return to stun All Points East festival crowds on the huge opening day.

Grammy nominated artist JORJA SMITH is one of the UK’s best singer/songwriters on the cusp of superstardom. Just five years on from the release of her debut single, Smith has already progressed from an R&B prodigy to an international name working with some of the world’s biggest artists, with her sunny R&B vocals on Drake’s ‘Get It Together’, Bruno Mars’s tour support, and Kendrick Lamar’s co-writer on ‘I Am’ from the Black Panther soundtrack.

JORJA SMITH returned this month with the release of her latest single entitled ‘Addicted’, and there are hints of her sophomore album dropping this year. With tunes like ‘Be Honest’ (featuring Burna Boy) and ‘Come Over’ (featuring Popcaan), every song Smith brings to the stage will be a hit in Victoria Park.

South London MC LOYLE CARNER delivers his rhymes with an intentional, poetic flow, buffered by warm jazzy production that recalls ’90s acid-jazz hip-hop. He made his breakthrough debut in the late 2010s with the Mercury Prize-nominated Yesterday’s Gone. In 2018, Carner hit the UK singles chart for the first time with the soothing hit with Jordan Rakei, ‘Ottolenghi.’ The next year, he surpassed that song’s performance with the Jorja Smith-assisted ‘Loose Ends.’ His sophomore effort, Not Waving, But Drowning, arrived that April and we’re excited to hear its follow up.

Brighton-raised CELESTE is one of the UK’s fastest rising stars. In the past year alone, she has been named the Brit Award Rising Star of 2020 and the number one breakthrough act BBC Music Sound of 2020 List. Her modern take on the timeless, heartache-tinged soul of smoky jazz bars makes her one of a kind in 2021. Her debut album Not Your Muse was released in February this year to critical acclaim, hitting the No.1 spot on the UK Albums Chart. Her already iconic tunes ‘Love Is Back’ and ‘Stop This Flame’ will sound spectacular coming from the All Points East stage!

MURA MASA, the Guernsey-born producer, songwriter and vocalist, has already won his first Grammy (and been nominated for two more), been shortlisted for an Ivor Novello Award, named one of Forbes’ 30 Under 30, and surpassed a billion streams. Along the way, he has confirmed his reputation as a chameleonic curator of global sounds; not only in his own solo material but in the emerging talent MURA MASA continues to develop (whether producing for Slowthai and Octavian, or remixing Koffee and Perfume Genius).

Leicester-born, MOBO winning artist MAHALIA has already made her mark on the UK music scene and had some seriously impressive collabs. Her 2019 album Love and Compromise peaked within the Top 30 of the album charts. In 2020, she was featured beside Ty Dolla sign on Jacob Collier’s ‘All I Need’ and released Isolation Tapes, a three-track EP.
