20 years after releasing the self-titled debut album that marked a generation, SLIPKNOT are VOA – HEAVY ROCK FESTIVAL headliners, which celebrates 10 years at the Restelo Stadium in Lisbon on the 4th and 5th July 2019

SLIPKNOT are the precursors of the nu-metal and are one of the most iconic and successful names of the wave that, in the second half of the 90’s, they stormed onto the scene of the most extreme music.

Originally from Des Moines, in the Midwest, the nine masqueraders quickly established themselves as one of the most enigmatic and provocative bans of the modern era of music, which would mark an entire generation of audiences and musicians. Over the past two decades, they have grown into a world-wide popularity phenomenon and have extrapolated all labels.

They were nominated for ten Grammy Awards (winning the 2006 “Before I Forget”), collecting 13 platinum and 44 gold records, and currently have 2.5 billion views on YouTube. Its supporter base is now as firm as a militant, with the latest “.5: The Gray Chapter” studio album, released four years ago, debuting in the Top 5 of official sales charts in a total of 19 countries, including the United States (# 1), the United Kingdom (# 2), Japan (# 1), Australia (# 1), Germany (# 2) and Russia (# 1). 2019 will be a very special year for the band, with a new album in the pipeline and the twentieth anniversary of the eponymous debut album.

After a year of reflection for restructuring, 2019 will be the year of the expansion of the VOA – HEAVY ROCK FESTIVAL. When it celebrates ten years of existence, the event moves to the Estádio do Restelo in Lisbon on 4th and 5th July 2019 for two days that promise to celebrate the true spirit of the great rock and metal concerts that have marked the history of live music in Portugal in the last decades.

Tickets are on sale now and more information can be found on the official VOA – Heavy Rock Festival website
